In the document available here, people can find guidelines and advice about what to do if they find themselves in this highly unpleasant situation.

The document was created with the help of testimonies of the survivors from the last year’s terrorist attack in Paris.

When terrorists started shooting randomly at people in Bataclan, some of them survived by throwing themselves to the floor and pretending to be dead. However, this is not the best solution because if you see the attacker, it means the attacker sees you, too.

In case of a terrorist attack, people are advised to:

  • Escape if you can.
  • Consider the safest options.
  • Is there a safe route? RUN if not HIDE.
  • Can you get there without exposing yourself to greater danger?
  • Insist others leave with you.
  • Leave belongings behind.
