Security Minister met with EUFOR General and Commander

Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Selmo Cikotic met today with the Commander of EUFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Major General Reinhard Trischak, and with the newly appointed Commander of EUFOR, Major General Alexander Platzer.

At the meeting with Minister Cikotic, General Trischak assessed the cooperation between the two institutions in the past year and a half as very successful and meaningful.

Trischak, in addition to summarizing the previous relations, expressed the expectation that such cooperation would continue with his successor in that position, Major General Alexander Platzer, who also attended today’s meeting.

Major General Platzer will take over as EUFOR Commander in January next year, and this visit is aimed at getting to know partner institutions and officials in BiH.

Minister Cikotic emphasized the important role and great contribution of EUFOR in strengthening security and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was reflected in the support of security structures and local institutions, especially when it comes to eliminating the consequences of natural and other disasters.

He stressed that the main foreign policy goals of Bosnia and Herzegovina are European integration and that intensive cooperation with European Union institutions will continue in the future, including the EU military operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUFOR).

Cikotic wished Major General Trischak a successful continuation of his career, and Platzer success in his new position in BiH.
