Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Policy David Baker is visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of a regional tour of the Western Balkans, where he held a series of meetings with the highest representatives of international military forces in our country.

During the meeting with the Commander of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, Brigadier General Matthew Wallace, and the Commander of EUFOR, Major General Florin-Marian Barbu, Baker emphasized the importance of the NATO mission in BiH and EUFOR in preserving regional stability and the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The NATO and EUFOR missions play a key role in maintaining a secure and stable environment, and represent a pillar of support for the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Baker said during the meeting.

The American delegation in Sarajevo was also welcomed by the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in BiH, Daniel Koski, who welcomed Baker, as well as Brigadier General Chris McKinney, Deputy Director of J5, US European Command (EUCOM).

Koski emphasized on that occasion that the presence and engagement of senior Pentagon officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina confirms “the continued and strong commitment of the United States to a stable and functional Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
