Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Sarajevo: Serbia is a true Friend of BiH

The president of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic is on an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), which is the first time since 2011 that the Serbian president is in an official visit to BiH.

“Despite the fact that many don’t believe my statement and that may won’t be happy with it, especially those that voted for me, I wish to say that Serbia is a true friend of BiH,” Vucic said at the beginning of his addressing.

He emphasized that all relationships between the two countries are strengthening.

“BiH is one of Serbia’s most important trading partners; our exchange is around 1.5 billion Euros,” Vucic noted.

He added that Serbia has completed forming a commission for the border.

“I believe that we’ll solve that. About 97% of the border is resolved and we’re closed to finding solutions for the rest. I invited the members of the Presidency of BiH to visit Serbia at the end of the year. We have several topics, including the flooded land in Srebrenica, we discussed about trade and tourism. There’s a lot of work waiting for us,” Vucic said.

Regarding the highway that’s supposed to connect the two countries, he said “We’ll accept any solution that BiH proposed. For us, it’s important to connect Belgrade and Sarajevo with other parts of Serbia.”

He added that the elimination of all barriers to trade was discussed, which will be further discussed tomorrow, as well as removing various non-tariff fees in order to speed up the flow of goods, people and capital.

“We’re ready to donate another million Euros, which would go to Mostar. A bridge near Gradiska will finally be built, where BiH and Croatia will be connected. I think that we can look at the future more clearly than before. I don’t have a need to court anymore, including here in Sarajevo, but I do want to say, for the citizens of BiH, that Serbia is Bosnia’s friend and we’ll behave like that and you’ll be able to see that in the years and decades that are ahead of us,” Vucic said.

The president of Serbia said that his priority is peace and stability and that everyone should behave accordingly.
