The Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH) Marinko Čavara spoke today in Sarajevo with ambassadors, deputy ambassadors and chargé d’affaires of seven member states of the European Union (EU).
Ambassador of the Republic of Austria Ulrike Hartmann, Ambassador of the Republic of Italy Marco Di Ruzza, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia Damijan Sedar, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic Roman Hlobeň, Deputy Ambassador at the Embassy of the Czech Republic Štěpán Šantruček, Deputy Ambassador at the Embassy of the Republic of Greece Minas Ounanian and Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia Tomislav Lendić they informed Čavara of the content of the letter in which these EU member states provided strong support to Bosnia and Herzegovina for the opening of pre-accession negotiations with the EU.
During the meeting, they emphasized that the foreign ministers of these countries sent a letter to the EU’s high representative for foreign policy and security, Josep Borrell, in which they advocate for the opening of pre-accession negotiations between BiH and the EU by the end of 2023.
Čavara thanked the European diplomats and their countries for their support and for the steps they are taking in favor of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also referred to the positive process of establishment of government in BiH institutions after the General Elections in October last year, as well as the adoption of a set of reform laws that fulfill the priorities of the European Commission from the Opinion on BiH’s Request for EU Membership.
Čavara emphasized the importance of continuing the reform processes in BiH, as well as taking credible steps to fulfill priorities with the aim of Bosnia and Herzegovina starting negotiations on full membership in the EU as soon as possible.
The importance of further implementation of reforms was also emphasized by the ambassadors of the EU member states, emphasizing that their countries and governments will continue to provide strong support to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the countries of the Western Balkans with the aim of integrating our country and the entire region into the EU as quickly as possible, announced the Department of Relations with the public of the BiH Parliament.
