Several hundreds of handball fans welcomed B&H handball representation, last night in front of BBI Center in Sarajevo. B&H handball representation returned from Reykjavik, where on Sunday night won against Island and for the first time in history qualified to participate at the World Cup, which will be held in January 2015 in Qatar.
The best handball players of our country are welcomed at the Sarajevo Airport and from there by bus headed to the city center and were greeted by hundreds of citizens.
The coach Dragan Marković stated that his players “deserved this qualification at the World Championship and he is so proud of them”.
“It is certain that we have a team for the future, we must believe in them all together to look forward to their success. I am glad that we are part of the football and volleyball euphoria and that our sport is going upwards. Our first major objective is the placement at the European Championship in Poland. We will play two tough matches against Belarus and Denmark. We want to use these two matches as a good preparation for the performance at the World Cup”, said Markovic.
The greatest success of B&H handball team is achieved in the sixth attempt and after more than 17 years of efforts of many generations of the best handball players. The success of the national team of B&H is larger than the elimination of one of the best European teams.
B&H handball players qualified for barrage after they won the first place in the group, above Portugal, Latvia and Estonia.
In the first match of barrage, B&H handball players won against Island in Sarajevo with result 33:32, while in rematch in Reykjavik, remained undefeated (29:29).
