Significant Increase in Tourists Arrivals in BiH in June

In Bosnia and Herzegovina in June 2021, there were 88,191 visits by tourists, which is 44.6% more than in May 2021 and 231.7% more than in June 2020, according to the report by BiH Agency for Statistics.

Tourists made 200,172 overnight stays, which is 51.8% more than in May 2021 and 263.1% more than in June 2020.

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in a large increase in the index in June 2021 compared to June 2020 when most accommodation facilities were closed. The number of overnight stays of domestic tourists is higher by 47.6% compared to May 2021 and higher by 162.5% compared to June 2020.

The number of overnight stays of foreign tourists is higher by 57.2% compared to May 2021 and by 573.9% higher compared to June 2020.

In the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourists in June 2021, most overnight stays were realized by tourists from the United Arab Emirates (19.3%), Serbia (17.2%), Saudi Arabia (13.2%), Croatia (7.7%), Germany (3.4%) and Turkey (3.1%) which is a total of 63.9%. Tourists from other countries realized 36.1% of overnight stays.

Regarding the length of stay of foreign tourists in our country, in the first place is: Iran with an average stay of 9.9 nights, South Korea 9.7 nights, Finland with 6.4 nights, Estonia with 4.5 nights, Lithuania with 4, 4 nights, Japan with 4.3 nights and Egypt with 3.8 nights.

In June 2021, there were 17,597 apartments and camping places available to tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is 11.0% more than in June 2020 and 38,117 beds available, which is 13.1% more than in the same month.

IIn June 2021, within the activity – Hotels and similar accommodation, tourists had at their disposal a total of 15,985 rooms and suites, which is 10.6% more than in June 2020, and 33,248 beds, which is 13.5% more than in June the same month of the previous year.
