Significant Increase in Volume of Passenger Transport by all modes of Road Transportation in BiH

The number of passengers using rail or road in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the same period last year increased by 20.1 percent, while the number of passengers in urban-suburban transport decreased by 14.1 percent.

In road passenger transport, vehicle kilometers traveled increased by 19.2 percent in the third quarter, while vehicle kilometers traveled in urban-suburban passenger transport increased by 4.3 percent, the BiH Statistics Agency announced.

In road freight transport, the number of vehicle kilometers traveled in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the same quarter last year increased by 1.3 percent, the volume of transported goods by 2.5 percent, and the ton kilometers achieved by 2.6 percent.

As for rail passenger traffic, a significant increase in certain indicators in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the same quarter last year was caused by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

The number of passengers transported by rail in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the same period of the previous year was 45.6 percent higher, while the number of passenger kilometers traveled was 33.2 percent higher.

In rail transport, the volume of goods transported in the third quarter of 2022 was 1.9 percent higher, and the number of ton-kilometers achieved was 3.5 percent higher than in the same quarter last year.
