Significant Increase of Tourist Arrivals in BiH

The total number of tourist arrivals in Bosnia and Herzegovina in January 2023 was 88,044, which is 14.4 percent less compared to December 2022 and 14.7 percent more compared to January 2022.

Tourists spent 208,272 overnight stays in January, which is 2.2 percent more compared to December 2022 and 12.6 percent more compared to January 2022.

In the total number of overnight stays, the participation of domestic tourists was 35.5 percent, while 64.5 percent was the participation of foreign tourists.

The number of overnight stays by domestic tourists in January was lower by 12.3 percent compared to December 2022 and lower by 1.1 percent compared to January 2022.

The number of overnight stays by foreign tourists was 12.5 percent higher compared to December 2022 and 21.8 percent higher compared to January 2022, according to data from the BiH Statistics Agency.

In terms of overnight stays of foreign tourists, the highest number of overnight stays were realized by tourists from Croatia (35.5 percent), Serbia (20.4 percent), Slovenia (6.3 percent), Montenegro (6.2 percent), Turkey (4.9 percent) and Germany (3.0 percent), which is a total of 76.3 percent. Tourists from other countries accounted for 23.7 percent of overnight stays, Fena writes.
