Since the beginning of the war, 80 percent of the population of Gaza has been displaced

The UN coordinator for humanitarian affairs in the Gaza Strip, Sigrid Kaag, said that 1.9 million people, or 80 percent of the population of this territory, have now been displaced.

Kag said she was “very concerned” about the Israeli military’s order for Palestinians to evacuate from Khan Younis.

The UN estimates that around 250,000 people have been affected by Israel’s military order for civilians to leave the southern city of the Gaza Strip, AFP reported.

“More than a million people have been displaced again, desperate for shelter and safety, and 1.9 million people are now displaced across Gaza. I am deeply concerned by reports of new evacuation orders issued in the Khan Younis area,” Kaag said.

Kaag stated that not enough aid is reaching the war-torn enclave and that the opening of new crossings, especially in the south of the Gaza Strip, is necessary to prevent a humanitarian disaster.

The volume of aid entering Gaza has “dropped significantly” since the start of the Israeli operation in Rafah, she added.
