identification-of-victimsSix victims from the past war were identified yesterday in the Center for autopsy and identification in Goražde. The victims are Bosniaks, killed at the territory of Višegrad and Rogatica.

Spokeswoman of the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH Lejla Čengić said that remains of four victims were exhumed in 2013 from the mass grave Hrtar at the territory of Višegrad. One victim was exhumed in 2016 next to the Arnaudija Mosque in Rogatica, and one victim was exhumed at the city cemetery Kolijevke in Goražde.

Čengić said that the remains of Selim Ramić were exhumed from the grave of Bekto Gacka.

“Those are remains which were exchanged as Bekto Gacka in 1992. DNA analysis confirmed that incomplete remains of Bekto Gacka were exhumed in 2010 from the Perućac Lake. Mother of Bekto gave blood for DNA analysis because three of her brothers were killed in Višegrad,” said Čengić.

Čengić added that after the mistake was found in the classic method of identification, remains from the grave of Bekto Gacka were exhumed and the DNA analysis confirmed that remains belong to Selim Ramić, victim killed in 1992 in Višegrad.

Identities of the victims were confirmed on the basis of DNA analysis and members of their family also confirmed them.

Identified victims are:

  1. Selim (Mujo) Ramić, born in 1953 in Crni Vrh, Višegrad;
  2. Azmir (Edhem) Hodžić, born in 1966 in Rogatica;
  3. Bakir (Munib) Zulović, born in 1963 in Rodić Brdo, Višegrad;
  4. Hamdo (Ibrahim) Mangafić, born in 1949 in Sarajevo;
  5. Nurif (Selim) Kurtalić, born in 1920 in Kuratalići, Višegrad;
  6. Šećo (Husein) Kurspahić, born in 1920 in Koritnik, Višegrad.
