kozaradecja-stazaThe National Park Kozara readily welcomes the winter season and the novelty is that they recently obtained the official status of a ski resort. Apart from the existing big ski trail and a children ski trail, as of this season the visitors will have at their disposal the new trail in the length of 850 meters and the ski lift “anchor”. These investments worth 300.000 BAM led to the obtaining of the status of a ski resort.

With the new trail, Kozara will have three trails in the total length of 1.750 meters. Spotlights have been placed on one of them, thus enabling the night skiing. In addition, this trail also has artificial snow cannons.

“All mentioned trails have lifts. The 700-meter trail is equipped with a lift with the capacity of 900 skiers per hour. The 850-meter trail has the “anchor” lift whose capacity is 800 skiers per hour. The children trail also has a ski lift with the capacity of 450 skiers per hour. Therefore, each trail possesses lifts and these capacities currently satisfy the needs of the resort,” said the Director of the NP Kozara Dragan Romčević.

Apart from investing in ski trails, investments were made in other amenities as well. A jogging track in the length of one kilometer with 15 exercise stations has been completed recently.

“The clay court is covered in gravel so that the track would be cleaner for the users. The track is intended for recreationists and those who deal with sports more professionally. Jogging track was made by the team of the NP Kozara, with financial help from the Tourist Board of the City of Prijedor and the Extreme Sports Club Albatros,” said Romčević and added that the NP Kozara also disposes with a children jogging track.

Romčević pointed out that they work every year on improving and enhancing the contents of the national park in order to enable their visitors a pleasant stay on this mountain.

“In addition to the ski and jogging tracks for adults, the Bijele vode picnic site has been landscaped and by the end of the year the educational trails for the youngsters and scouts will be marked. The park currently disposes with five marked pedestrian tracks that lead to the most beautiful localities within the Park,” said Romčević.

With the capacity of ski lifts of up to 2.200 skiers per hour, the National Park Kozara expects more guests this season.

“In the previous year the National Park Kozara was visited by around 95.000 visitors. This year, until the end of September, the Park was visited by around 89.000 guests, which is more in comparison with 2015. However, when it comes to winter season, the number of visitors will depend on the amount of snowfall, temperatures and skiing conditions, as well as on enjoyment in winter sports and joys,” said Romčević.
