Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zukan Helez and Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Bosnia and Herzegovina Damijan Sedar discussed the possibilities of expanding bilateral cooperation between the ministries of defense and the armed forces of the two countries. The officials said that relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia are extremely friendly.

The Republic of Slovenia provided support for granting EU candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina, for which Helez expressed great gratitude to Ambassador Sedar.

Sedar also emphasized the significance of Slovenia’s recent vote as a temporary member of the Security Council of the United Nations. He emphasized that in this role, Slovenia will advocate for multilateralism and the protection of human rights and that it will not neglect the importance of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the peace and stability of this part of Europe.

Slovenian Ambassador expressed Slovenia’s full support for BiH’s progress towards full membership in Euro-Atlantic integration. In particular, he expressed his country’s readiness to participate with donor funds in the NATO aid package for building the defense capacities of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Helez emphasized the importance of Slovenia as a country that was once part of a joint state with BiH, and that its knowledge of the circumstances in the region can help BiH on its way to full membership in the European Union and NATO.

He emphasized that BiH and Slovenia have no open issues, and thanked Sedar for the help that Slovenia provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina in cases of natural disasters, but also for education, training, and exchange of military experience, announced the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
