American rapper Snoop Dogg should also carry the Olympic flame through Paris before the opening ceremony on Friday evening. The popular rapper will be one of the torchbearers in the suburb of Saint-Denis, where the Olympic stadium is located, district chief Mathieu Hanotin told the French news agency AFP.

Other bearers of the Olympic torch are French actress Laetitia Casta, French rapper MC Solaar and former Ukrainian pole vaulter Sergey Bubka.

The Olympic flame traveled around France for almost two months. On Friday, the torch will be carried through the athletes’ Olympic village, before arriving at the Olympic stadium.

Snoop Dogg will also commentate on the Olympics for the American television network NBC. “Let’s celebrate, let’s make these games memorable, and may the best shine like gold,” said the 52-year-old artist.

”I grew up with the Olympic Games and I am very excited to see these incredible athletes perform at their best in Paris. We’re going to have some crazy events and of course, I’m going to bring my Snoop style — these are going to be the most epic games,” he told the NBC website.

The games begin on Friday and will run in Paris and other locations until August 11th.
