Soreca thanked Costa for the Visit: EU Membership is a free and sovereign Choice of BiH

The Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Luigi Soreca, posted on Instagram a message addressed to the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, who visited Bosnia and Herzegovina yesterday.

Costa started his tour of the Western Balkan countries (BiH, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania and North Macedonia) yesterday, and he chose Sarajevo as the first stop, for which Soreca thanked him.

Also, Soreca emphasized a quote that Costa shared during his statements to the media in Sarajevo.

“As you emphasized yesterday: ‘Membership in the EU is a free and sovereign choice of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is about much more than access to the single market. It means joining a political union built on common values and common strategic choices,'” he wrote.

In the end, he emphasized once again that the EU remains a committed partner in supporting BiH on the way to joining this bloc and that it is important that BiH “continues to progress and does not miss valuable opportunities”.
