The colored diamond “Mediterranean Blue” was displayed at Sotheby’s first public exhibition since 2009 at the Bassam Freiha Art Foundation, in the cultural district of Saadiyat Island, in Abu Dhabi.
The rare diamond, estimated at around 20 million dollars, will be offered for sale at the Sotheby’s High Jewelry auction in Geneva on May 13th.
The exhibition also includes other valuable collector’s items, including the largest flawless diamond in the world, the largest vivid orange-pink diamond ever graded, the second–largest red diamond known to exist, and several diamonds of over 100 carats.
The spectacular diamonds are worth around 100 million dollars.
“The exhibition is incredibly exciting for the simple reason that having just eight diamonds of this caliber in the same room is something worthy of one of the great museums of the world, and I can’t imagine we will ever see this lineup together again,” said Paul Redmayne, senior vice president of Sotheby’s for private sales of luxury goods, AA writes.
