Chairman Niko Lozančić, the first Deputy Ismeta Dervoz and members of the Commission for Gender Equality of the House of Representatives in the BiH Parliament Beriz Belkić, Zijad Jagodić and Vesna Krstović-Spremo, as well as member of the Joint Commission for Defense and Security of BiH Mehmet Bradarić spoke in Sarajevo yesterday with the Special Representative of the NATO General Secretary on issues of women, peace and security Mari Skaare regarding the implementation of the UN Resolution 1325-Women, Peace and Security.
Members of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly briefed the Special Represenatative of the NATO General Secretary for women’s issues, peace and security with the implementation of the Resolution in BiH, and the statistical indicators of women in armed forces and security agencies in BiH, with a particular emphasis on their representation in decision-making.
Mari Skarre expressed her satisfaction with the fact that BiH was the first in the region and eight in Europe that brought the Action Plan to implementation of the UN Resolution 1325, as well as the attention that this implementation and the Resolution devotes to the establishment of gender equality in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament.
She also said that she expects there will be an opportunity for the good experience of BIH to be presented at a forum on NATO for the implementation of the UN Resolution 1325.
