The Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of Bosnia and Herzegovina received the first doses of the Russian vaccine “Sputnik V”, which were cleared through customs this morning and taken away from the Sarajevo Airport.

“Shortly before 11 am, samples of the ‘Sputnik V’ vaccine were received by the Krajinagroup wholesaler from Banja Luka, at the ALMBIH Control Laboratory in Sarajevo,” the ALMBiH said.

As they said, having in mind the need for urgent action, the director of ALMBIH issued an order for action, and ordered the acting officials and employees to organize work on weekends, in order to complete the necessary procedures as soon as possible. They added that the completion of the procedures within the competence of ALMBIH is expected at the beginning of next week.

The first doses of the Russian vaccine “Sputnik V”, which Republika Srpska ordered for the vaccination of a thousand health workers, were cleared earlier this morning and taken from the Sarajevo Airport, confirmed for BHRT the spokesman of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, Ratko Kovacevic. The vaccines were in the customs warehouse at the Sarajevo airport for five days, and today the customs procedure was finally completed.

“The customs procedure for importing the Russian vaccine, which arrived in BiH on Monday, has ended. The importer submitted a customs declaration for import customs clearance through an authorized freight forwarder and submitted all the necessary documentation, including the decision of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska, which approved the intervention import of the coronavirus vaccine. After the end of the customs procedure, the goods were taken over by the importer and taken away from the Sarajevo Airport “, said Kovacevic.

The first Russian shipment contains two thousand doses of “Sputnik V” vaccines, intended for the vaccination of 1,000 health workers in RS.

200,000 doses of Russian vaccines are expected in the second half of February, and the same number in the first half of March. These quantities are enough to immunize 200,000 inhabitants in Republika Srpska. The training of health workers for immunization will start next week, and in addition to them, chronic patients, members of the Ministry of the Interior, educators, journalists, cameramen, firefighters and members of civil protection will have priority for vaccination, BHRT writes.
