A literary and art competition for primary and secondary school students is planned to be launched this year, and book promotions and a professional seminar “Libraries-Keepers of local cultural heritage” are foreseen in the context of celebrating this anniversary.

“We had 535 users during 2013, 394 registered users of Library Srebrenica and 141 users of the Regional Library in Skelani”, said the Librarian of the National Library Srebrenica Violeta Radić for Fena.

She stated that the library contained 34.357 library items by the end of 2013, and for the first time this year the library had ensured funds for the restoration of library funds from the budget of Municipality Srebrenica.  Last year, the library fund was increased by 688 new items, of which 351 books were purchased and 337 were given in the form of donations.

This library started to operate in 1959, when the Council of Education and Culture of Srebrenica provided funds for purchasing several hundred books.
