By refusing the entry into Kosovo of the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, the Kosovo government not only violated the agreement from the 2014 dialogue on official visits, but also clearly completely ignored the importance that the Serbian Orthodox Church has for the citizens of Kosovo, said today the spokesperson of the European Commission Peter Stano.
Stano emphasized that “the European Union calls again for the full and unconditional implementation of all agreements and arrangements in the dialogue, including the agreement on official visits”.
A spokesman for the European Commission stated that “the visit of Patriarch Porfirije to Kosovo was announced in accordance with the important agreements in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and that it “had to be allowed”.
Stano underlined that Pristina’s decision “goes against the fundamental principles of any multi-ethnic and tolerant democratic society”.
