Statement of EPP President Joseph Daul on the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide

jaosephOn the twentieth anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, the President of the European People’s Party (EPP), Joseph Daul, made the following statement:
“Today we commemorate and honour all the victims of the massacre and all the atrocities during the wars in former Yugoslavia and we express our solidarity with their families. We strongly believe that the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide is a fresh reminder of the dangers of extreme forms of nationalism and intolerance in society leading to war.
Regional cooperation and the European integration process are the best ways to promote conciliation and to overcome hatred and divisions. As the EPP family we will continue to play an active role in the reconciliation process and will contribute to the necessary reforms and further EU integration of the Western Balkan countries. This is the best means to achieve a better future for the people of the Western Balkans and for all Europeans.”
