Statistical Analysis: Price Levels recorded Decrease in August in BiH

In August 2019, on average, price levels decreased, according to data from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH’s) Agency for Statistics.

By divisions of COICOP classification in August 2019 compared to previous month, price levels decreased by 0,3%.

Higher prices in divisions of Alcoholic drinks and Tobacco, Housing and utilities and Restaurants and Hotels.

By divisions of COICOP classification, in August of 2019 as compared to the previous month, the price index increased in divisions of Alcoholic drinks and Tobacco by 0,1%, Housing and utilities by 0,2% and Restaurants and hotels by 0,3%.

Lower prices in divisions of Food and non- alcoholic beverages, Clothing and footwear, furniture and furnishing, Transport, Recreation and Culture and Other goods and services.

By divisions of COICOP classification in August 2019 compared to previous month, the price index decreased in divisions of Food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0,9%, Clothing and footwear by 0,4%, Furniture and furnishing by 0,1%, Transport by 0,2%, Recreation and Culture and Other goods and services by 0,1%.

On the annual level, on average, price levels increased by 0,3%.

The price level in August 2019 as compared to the same month of the previous year increased by 0,3%.

The average increase of prices was recorded in divisions of Food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0,5%, Alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 5,9%, Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 2,6%, Health by 0,7%, Transport by 0,1%, Recreation and Culture by 0,9%, Education by 0,6% and Restaurants and hotels by 0,9%.

The decrease of prices on average was recorded in divisions of Clothing and footwear by 10,4%, Furniture and furnishing by 0,4%, Communications by 0,6% and Other goods and services by 0,5%.
