NATO is considering the possibility of increasing its presence in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Kosovo and in the region as a whole, said the Secretary General of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg.

“We are now considering whether we should have a more permanent increase to ensure that this violence does not get out of control and cause a new violent conflict in Kosovo and the wider region,” he said at a joint press conference with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani.

He pointed out in Pristina that “what is necessary will be done”.

“We are currently considering our military presence in the Western Balkans region. This includes BiH, but also Kosovo,” Stoltenberg stressed.

He added that NATO is considering a more permanent increase in troops in the region, in order to keep tensions under control.
