Traffic Jams Relief radiosarajevo.baThe House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH adopted the report of the Joint Committee of both Houses for the achievement of an identical text of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Basics of Traffic Safety on the Roads in BiH.

With this law, fine policy for road users who break the law is stricter, especially in the context of the fines that have been increased in many areas such as speeding, not wearing a seat belt and talking on a cell phone.

“The new law provides the punishment of drunk passengers as well. Also, those who have just passed a driving test will not be able to drive the car alone in the period from 12 am to 4 am for two years,” said recently Minister of Transport and Communications, Ismir Jusko.

With the new legal solution, fines for not wearing a seat belt will amount to 100 to 300 BAM, while the penalty for holding a child in your lap will be slightly higher and will amount to 500 BAM.

As for the other penalties, the new law stipulates that speeding above 30 kilometers per hour, instead of the previous 200 BAM, now will cost up to 1,000 BAM. All those who refuse to do alcotest or they have more than 1.5 alcohol level in blood will pay a fine from 400 to 1,000 BAM.

The new law sets penalties for pedestrians on the road using a mobile phone or having headphones in their ears (40 BAM), driving with short lights off (30 BAM), as well as the fine for cyclists or motorcyclists who are carrying drunk persons (30 BAM).
