Students from the Region of the former Yugoslavia visited the Memorial Center in Potocari

Students from the region of the former Yugoslavia who are participating in the International Conference “Genocide Proceedings in BiH”, yesterday visited the Memorial Center in Potocari.

Students from Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and BiH had the opportunity to attend the historical class on the topic of Srebrenica genocide.

Mark Harman, the former Prosecutor of the ICTY, yesterday visited the Memorial Center in Potocari together with students and mothers of Srebrenica.

“I am here to pay tribute to the victims of Srebrenica genocide. Genocide cannot be denied, and the genocide that happened in the past must be admitted in order for genocide not to happen again in the future. Otherwise, humanity will not make a progress,” said Harman.

President of the Association “Movement of Mothers of Srebrenica and Zepa Enclaves” Munira Subasic noted that it is very important for the young people to hear the truth from the important people who pronounced the verdicts about everything that happened in this region.

The International Conference “Genocide Proceedings in BiH” was held during the past two days in Sarajevo, and it was organized by the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide in cooperation with the Movement of Mothers of Srebrenica and Zepa Enclaves, with the participation of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (MICT), which is a legal successor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).

The conference brought together a large number of law students from the region of the former Yugoslavia, and it was aimed at receiving information on evidence and arguments in order to face the truth about genocide in BiH.
