stup loopActing Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Muhamed Kozadra and Director of the Directorate of the SC Roads Adem Zolj today officially opened the underpass at Stup loop.

Kozadra talked about the importance of the underpass since around 60,000 cars and thousands of pedestrians pass through this road section each day, which created large traffic congestion in Stup.

He explained that the loop was part of the investment financed by the European Development Bank with a loan of 37.5 million Euros, and its first phase worth 16.5 million Euros for the 12th transversal and the south longitudinal, and that the rest of the 21.5 million Euros will be used for construction if the 1st transversal (from the Main train station to Vogošća).

Director of the SC Roads Adem Zolj said the underpass was built to improve the safety of pedestrians and that the tram stops are now protected with a concrete wall.

He added that the underpass has built-in eight escalators (eight of them), the first of the kind in the civil infrastructure in the country, and that soon security cameras will be installed for increased pedestrian safety.

Zolj said that he hoped that the FBiH Roads shall during next year complete the construction of Sarajevo bypass to Stup loop, which will solve the problem of traffic congestion in Rajlovac.
