In the organization of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), a two-day conference (workshop) ‘Civil society organizations and the Follow-up on Electoral Recommendations’ began today in Warsaw, the Press Service of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.

The event is organized within the project “Support to Electoral Reforms in the Western Balkans” financed by the European Union and the Austrian Development Agency.

The conference will be attended by representatives of civic election observation groups, activists and civil society, representatives of election enforcement authorities and representatives of international donor organizations active in the Western Balkans.

On behalf of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the president and member of the CEC Suad Arnautović and Željko Bakalar are participating in the conference.

Arnautović spoke on the panel about the fulfillment of election recommendations, international standards, methodological improvements and best practices.

In the future, the event will serve as a platform for exchanging knowledge on key challenges and opportunities for engaging civil society in election monitoring, as well as for reaching conclusions on how to consolidate their presence and sustainability during the election cycle as key actors in electoral reform and promotion of democracy throughout the Western Balkans.
