The two police officers who beat the young man in Mostar were immediately removed from duty and an internal investigation was launched in which all aspects of such behavior will be investigated, and the existence of elements of their criminal responsibility will be determined, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton announced.
The Ministry of the Interior stated that the initial information about the event was forwarded to the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office.
“The Ministry of the Interior of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton strongly condemns the brutal outburst of police officers that took place on Saturday, April 10, at 11:05 PM, and for which there is no justification,” it was stated in the statement.
The Ministry of the Interior pointed out that this is a classic example of exceeding the authority and the police code, for which the Ministry of the Interior deeply apologizes to the entire public, especially to the young man who was treated in such a way.
“Such behavior and such persons cannot and must not have a place among police officers,” the cantonal Ministry of Interior emphasized.
Last night, footage from a surveillance camera spread in the media and on social networks, showing two police officers beating a young man in front of the entrance of a building in Mostar.
The person who sent the video to the media stated that the beating happened due to a violation of curfew, which starts at 9 pm in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Srna news agency writes.
