Minister of Foreign Affairs Peter Szijjarto said that Hungary is against the deployment of soldiers from Western countries in Ukraine, and pointed out that it would undermine the decision-making system in NATO.
Szijjarto said that this would increase the chances of a third world war.
“We support NATO’s decision not to allow ground troops to be deployed in Ukraine, as this would undermine the decision-making system,” said Szijjarto.
He expressed satisfaction that, after the statement of French President Emmanuel Macron, most European leaders, including NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, were against the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine.
Macron said last week that Western leaders had discussed the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine and that no consensus had been reached on the issue, but that the option had not been ruled out.
America rejected the possibility of sending its soldiers to Ukraine.
