It was a tour that attracted the attention of the public from all over the world. Prince Charles arrived in the official visit to Yugoslavia in 1978, which was his first visit to a socialist country.
After landing at the “Cilipi” Airport in Dubrovnik, the Prince of Wales was welcomed by Sir Fitzroy Maclean, the commander of the allied military mission in Partisan units during the World War II.
He visited Dubrovnik and then went to Montenegro, where he was welcomed by the 86-year-old President of Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito, in the Galeb villa in Igalo.
The most interesting for people of BiH was the next station of the tour of Prince Charles. He visited BiH, i.e. a monument on Makljen and Jablanica, where Fitzroy Maclean introduced a member of the British royal family with the importance of the Battle for the Wounded on Neretva River and Tito’s tactical move of demolishing the bridge on Neretva River.
At the end, Prince Charles visited Serbia, Belgrade and Becej, and he received Tito’s “best wishes” telegram before he left Yugoslavia.
