The Committee for the Preservation of National Monuments in Bosnia and Herzegovina has recently announced that ten new national monuments have been added, including two sites in Sarajevo.
The first is Napredak Palace, which is located at 65 Titova Street. The palace was built in 1913 in the Secession style. Today, among other things, it houses the management offices for the cultural society, Napredak, Chamber Theatre 55 and Imperial Coffee Shop.
The second site is the old power station on Hiseta St. (Marijin Dvor), which opened in 1895. It’s worth noting that Sarajevo got electric lighting only 13 years after New York City.
