The Association of Filmmakers of BiH and Sarajevo Film Festival last night in Sarajevo organized a gathering to honor the success of the film “Death in Sarajevo” by Danis Tanovic, who won the prize “Silver Bear” and FIPRESCI at this year’s International Film Festival in Berlin.
On this occasion, the director and screenwriter of the film Tanovic expressed his satisfaction for having the opportunity to see so many happy people who were part of the film, but also those who came to express their support for his work.
The current situation in which BiH cinema currently is, emphasized Tanovic, will not be changed by the movie “Death in Sarajevo”, but filmmakers who believe that they can really do something because “everyone is bored with the attitude of people who are in charge for culture.”
“What we are looking is not abnormal. We ask only to become normal state, because after 25 years we should be able to do things right,” said Tanovic, adding that he is an optimist in this regard.
After the success of Tanovic’s film, director of the Sarajevo Film Festival Mirsad Purivatra said that he expects a lot of this kind of films and victories.
“I hope that the success of this film will encourage the others to make great films,” said the President of the Association of Filmmakers of BiH Ines Tanovic.
Leading roles in the film realized Snezana Vidovic, Izudin Bajrovic, Vedrana Seksan, Muhammad Hadzovic, Faketa Salihbegovic-Avdagic and Edin Avdagic.
Film producers are Amra Baksic Camo and Francois Margolin, and co-producer is Adis Djapo.
The crew also included: director of photography Erol Zubcevic, editor Reginald Simek, author of music Mirza Tahirovic, production designer Mirna Ler, costume designers Ina Arnautalic and Hatidza Nuhic, makeup Lamija Hadzihasnovic-Homarac, sound Samir Foco and casting director Timka Grahic.
The film “Death in Sarajevo” was made in the production by Margo Cinema and SCCA / pro.ba in co-production with France 3 Cinema, and was supported by Canal +, France Televisions and the Foundation for Cinematography Sarajevo.
