Technical Assistance for Implementation of Program of Water Supply and Sanitation in BiH started

sanitationWith the help of the European Union and other international financial institutions, BiH commenced the comprehensive reconstruction in sector of environmental protection.

Program of improving water supply and sanitation (WATSAN) was launched in 2008 as a response to the need of municipalities to improve the infrastructure of water supply and disposal of waste waters.

First semester of project “Technical Assistance for Implementation of Program of Water Supply and Sanitation in BiH” has been successfully completed, which provides technical assistance in implementation of this program, which the EU funded with more than two million euros from 2010IPA funds of the National Program for BiH.

Goal of this project is to contribute to improving of infrastructure of water supply, sanitation and living conditions, as well as the environmental protection in municipalities which were identified during the introduction stage (Bosansko Grahovo, Čelinac, Glamoč, Gračanica, Jajce, Kupres, Lukavac, Nevesinje, Orašje, Petrovo, Prijedor, Prozor-Rama, Ribnik, Šekovići, Široki Brijeg, Teslić and Velika Kladuša), Technical Assistance Project Team of WATSAN Program stated.

Within the first stage of the project, at the end of November 2014, experts in procurement held trainings in field of international procurement procedures in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Istočno Sarajevo for members of Project Management Units and Implementation Teams in both entities.

Trainings were held to inform participants about the international procurement procedures and documents which refer to implementation of selected subprojects.

During further implementation of this project, support to Project Management Unit will continue in both entities and to Implementation Teams in selected municipalities, and support to projects of water supply and sanitation, which are co-financed from loans of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and IPA grants.

Project will provide the support for preparation of feasibility studies, concept designs, project proposals, main projects and tender documentation, and the assistance to the Implementation Teams during tenders.

Project “Technical Assistance for Implementation of Program of Water Supply and Sanitation in BiH “, started in March 2014 and it is implemented by IGIP Consortium, led by company Ingenieurgesellschaft für internationale Planungsaufgaben mbH, and companies NAMA Consulting Engineers and Planners S.A. and EXERGIA – Energy and Environment Consultants S.A.
