The goalkeeper of the football club Barcelona, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who has not played since September due to injury, will be the starter in the upcoming Spanish league match against Valladolid, the coach of the Catalan team Hansi Flick announced yesterday.
“Ter Stegen will start tomorrow. And we can end the press conference with that,” Flick said yesterday.
Barcelona’s players are visiting the team ofValladolid today, in the match of the 34th round of the Spanish Primera.
This 33-year-old German goalkeeper suffered a serious injury to his right knee in September, and he was replaced in goal by the Polish keeper Wojciech Szczesny.
“Marc is on the right track, in great form, I can see it from his excellent training sessions,” said Flick, the former coach of Germany.
Flick did not want to talk about other players who missed previous matches due to injuries, including Alejandro Balde and Robert Lewandowski, while he confirmed that Jules Kounde will miss the match against Valladolid.
“They are also on the right track, but we need to be patient,” added Flick.
Barcelona, five rounds before the end, is leading the Primera table with a four-point advantage over second-placed Real Madrid.
The Catalan team is also expecting the return leg of the Champions League semi-final against Inter in Milan. That match is scheduled for Tuesday, and the first leg ended in a draw – 3:3.
