The police station in Bosanska Krupa was attacked last night, it was confirmed for BHRT from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Una-Sana Canton. According to the information we received, the juvenile entered the Police Station and attacked two police officers with a knife. One policeman was wounded, while another succumbed to his injuries.

This attack was characterized as terrorism, announced the MUP of the USK.

The wounded policeman underwent surgery and his condition is stable, confirmed the spokesperson of the USK MUP

Adnan Beganović, spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, USK, told BHRT that the attack took place around 9:00 p.m. when the 14-year-old juvenile S.E. broke into the Police Station and attacked two police officers with cold weapons.

The wounded policeman is fighting for his life in the Dr. Irfan Ljubijankić Cantonal Hospital, while the other succumbed on the way to the hospital.

Beganović stated that the USK Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office was informed about the incident, under whose jurisdiction investigative actions are carried out.

When asked whether the attack will be characterized as terrorist, Beganović said that the USK Prosecutor’s Office will make a decision on it and qualify it as a criminal offense.

The attacker was arrested, and the motives of the attack are not yet known.

Amer Kozlica, director of the USK Police Administration, told BHRT that upon receiving the report, special units were dispatched to the scene.

Kozlica stated that the level of security has been increased to a higher level, and that all police officers and officers are on alert.

Federal Interior Minister Ramo Isak told BHRT that he received information directly from the USK Interior Minister that the attacker was a 14-year-old minor.

“The investigation is ongoing, we have made everything available… We cannot give details about the operative part because it is about a minor,” said Isak.

He added that he will work to increase the presence of the police on the territory of the entire Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that certain instructions have already been sent in this regard.

“Dispatches have been sent to all cantonal ministries of interior affairs to raise the level of security to a higher level. We are in constant coordination with the cantonal prime minister and the relevant ministry. Any decision that is necessary will be made. The competent institutions are working, now we need to see how to get out of this situation, what should we do to prevent this,” said Isak.

USK Prime Minister Nijaz Hušić told BHRT that together with the Minister of Internal Affairs and the Director of Police, they will make all decisions tonight or early in the morning, when they will publish information about the circumstances of the event.

“Given that this is a minor, I have to say that I believe in the police authorities and the Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine all the details,” said Hušić.

There is a large number of police on the ground, and investigations are underway, after which more details will be known, according to BHRT.
