Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania reached an agreement on the creation of a “defense line” on the border with Russia, the Ministry of Defense of Estonia announced.

“The Baltic countries have agreed on a defense line along their eastern border. It is crucial to use the time wisely to increase defense readiness,” it was stated in the statement of the ministry, reports Al Jazeera.

The Ministry of Defense of Estonia specified that the agreement on the creation of this line was signed in Riga by the defense ministers of the three countries.

It is noted that the ministers signed an agreement according to which the three countries plan to soon create a defense zone consisting of various facilities intended to deter and protect against military threats.

The Estonian newspaper Postimees announced that the country’s authorities will build almost 600 bunkers on the eastern border to defend against the alleged threat from Russia, according to the Russian agency.

The decision on their locations will be made by the end of this year, and the installation of the structures will begin in the first half of 2025, the Estonian newspaper reported.
