The Central Bank of BiH announced the Total Money Supply

The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced that the total money supply at the end of February 2024 amounted to 35.98 billion KM, and compared to the previous month, an increase in the money supply by 208 million KM (0.6 percent) was registered.

They state that the increase in the money supply in February 2024 is the result of an increase in money by 208.6 million KM (one percent) and a decrease in quasi-money by 0.6 million KM. In the structure of money, cash outside banks increased by 52.6 million KM (0.8 percent), and transferable deposits in domestic currency by 156.1 million KM (one percent).

Quasi money decreased due to a decrease in transferable deposits in foreign currency by 182.2 million KM (4.3 percent) and other deposits in local currency by 35.7 million KM (1.2 percent), while at the same time deposits in foreign currency remained increased by 217.3 million KM (three percent).

On an annual level, the increase in the money supply in February 2024 amounted to 2.79 billion KM (8.4 percent). Growth was achieved in cash outside banks by 448.6 million KM (7.5 percent), in transferable deposits in domestic currency by 1.51 billion KM (11.1 percent), in transferable deposits in foreign currency by 275.2 million KM (7.4 percent), with other deposits in domestic currency by 40.1 million KM (1.4 percent) and with other deposits in foreign currency by 517.5 million KM (7.4 percent).

Total loans to domestic sectors at the end of February 2024 amounted to 23.66 billion KM, and compared to the previous month, an increase in loans of 197.5 million KM (0.8 percent) was recorded. Credit growth was registered in the household sector by 79.3 million KM (0.7 percent) and in private companies by 145.9 million KM (1.5 percent), while in other sectors there was a decrease in credit. Loans were reduced at non-financial public companies by 12.5 million KM (2.1 percent), at government institutions by 13.2 million KM (1.2 percent) and at other domestic sectors by 1.9 million KM (0.8 percent).

The annual growth rate of total loans in February 2024 was 7.5 percent, nominally 1.66 billion KM. Annual credit growth was registered in the household sector by 885.3 million KM (eight percent), in private companies by 735.5 million KM (8.1 percent) and in other domestic sectors by 68.1 million KM (41.6 percent ). A decrease in credit growth at the annual level was registered at non-financial public companies by 16.5 million KM (2.7 percent) and at government institutions by 14 million KM (1.3 percent).

Total deposits of domestic sectors at the end of February 2024 amounted to 31.38 billion KM, and compared to the previous month, deposits increased by 137.8 million KM (0.4 percent). The growth of deposits on a monthly level was registered in the household sector by 235.2 million KM (1.5 percent) and in non-financial public enterprises by 43.7 million KM (2.2 percent). Deposits decreased with private companies by 127.2 million KM (1.8 percent), with government institutions by 2.7 million KM (0.1 percent) and with other domestic sectors by 11.2 million KM (0.6 percent ).

The annual growth rate of total deposits in February 2024 was 7.5 percent, which in absolute terms is 2.2 billion KM. The annual growth of deposits was registered in the household sector by 1.52 billion KM (10.2 percent), in private companies by 798.3 million KM (12.7 percent) and in non-financial public companies by 14.8 million KM (0. 7 percent). Deposits at the government institutions decreased by 113.8 million KM (2.7 percent) and at other domestic sectors by 18.3 million KM (one percent).

The foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the end of February 2024 amounted to 16 billion KM and are higher than the previous month by 122.2 million KM (0.8 percent), while at the annual level foreign exchange reserves increased by 664.9 million KM (4.3 percent).
