The Court of BiH has imposed prohibitive measures on former General of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fikret Prevljak.

Measures have been imposed prohibiting him from leaving Bosnia and Herzegovina and meeting with witnesses and other defendants.

Prevljak was arrested due to a war crimes investigation in which he is suspected of committing multiple crimes as commander of the Fourth Motorized Brigade, related to the conditions in the makeshift prison.

According to prosecutor Marijana Čobović, Prevljak is suspected of war crimes against the civilian population in the period from July 1992 to March 1995 in his capacity as commander of the Fourth Motorized Brigade of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He is accused of knowingly and willingly organizing the imprisonment of the population of exclusively Serbian nationality, who were tortured physically and mentally in inadequate accommodation, in garages and basements.

As a reminder, Prevljak was arrested on Tuesday at Sarajevo Airport after returning from Turkey. The BiH Border Police arrested him on the instructions of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office and the War Crimes Department, and he spent the night in the premises of the BiH Border Police.

Prevljak was previously the president of the SDA Sarajevo Cantonal Board, and is also the party’s candidate for mayor of Ilidža Municipality in 2020.
