The Draft Budget of Canton Sarajevo was adopted in a record Amount

At the session of the Assembly of the Canton Sarajevo (CS), the budget proposal for 2022 was adopted in the record amount of around one billion 220 million convertible marks (BAM). There was a heated debate between the opposition and the government.

The determined budget proposal is higher by 100 million BAM in relation to the draft budget, which was sent for public discussion at the end of last year.

From the Assembly, objections, from the opposition, as is known. There were many questions, mostly addressed to the Ministry of Transport. Expenditures in this department were increased from 280.000 BAM to more than five million BAM. And that’s not the end. The draft envisages 150.000 BAM for reconstructions and investments. But there is an explanation for everything.

”280.000 BAM refers to the current maintenance of parking meters and five million and 200 thousand to the current maintenance of roads. 280.000 are in the budget of the Ministry of Transport, and five million and 217 thousand are in the budget of the Directorate for Roads,” explained Adnan Steta, Minister of Transport of CS (SDP).

The opposition also complained about the funds intended for the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The budget proposal envisages, among other things, 17 million BAM for the purchase of helicopters and half a million for the helicopter unit. Not that it is not necessary, but is it a good time, deputies asked, recalling the possible abolishment of Ponder 2.

”We want our citizens to use this in cases where it is foreseen when we have the need to transport the injured, endangered, transport assistance in floods and fire fighting,” said Admir Katica, Minister of the Internal Affairs of the CS (NiP).

”Why is the planned budget of CS increased by 97 million BAM in relation to the fiscal estimate of the Ministry of Finance of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH)? Why in that item, in those 97 million, was it planned to increase salaries by 30 million BAM in agreement with the Trade Unions, the law on Srebrenica, the law on social protection. You put everything in those 97 million, whose fate is uncertain,” told Mahir Devic, SDA representative in the CS Assembly.

The line minister answered that the estimate, for which he said they received from the federal level, showed an increase in income of 38 million BAM. An increase was also observed in the first month of the current year.
