The ”Eight” refused SDA’s Invitation: We stay together

Last night, the ”Eight” announced that they are staying together and continuing with the process of forming the government at all levels, together with their partners.

This group of parties secured the majority in the election results, among other things, in the Bosniak Caucus in the House of Peoples of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), the ”Eight” pointed out in their statement.

”Unfortunately, due to the post-election machinations, some representatives betrayed the trust of the voters and, contrary to the promises they made in the pre-election period, sided with the current ruling structure led by the SDA. The parties of the ”Eight” will continue to work on creating the programmatic principles of the future majority,” it is stated in the statement.

From the political entities that will be in the opposition, they expect, as they say, responsible and statesmanlike behavior, i.e. giving up any form of blockades.

”These blockades may be able to keep them in power for another month or two, but such actions will cause immeasurable damage to the interests of the citizens of BiH. We note that the accelerated formation of the Government at all levels is one of the priorities set by the European Union (EU) for the political structures in BiH. Only by fulfilling this condition, BiH would have access to the necessary EU funds to ensure social stability and significant assistance to citizens in times of serious crisis,”the ”Eight” announced.

In this way, they call on the DF, which has one delegate in the House of Peoples of the FBiH, ”to behave responsibly, as the SDP BiH did in early 2015 when the SDA and DF had the majority”.

”Namely, at that time the SDP BiH, the current member of the new majority, had the possibility of blocking the establishment of the Government in the FBiH through the Serb People Caucus in the House of Peoples of FBiH. Although the SDP BiH had a so-called control package in this Caucus, they did not block the establishment of the majority. On the contrary, recognizing the fact that a new parliamentary majority was established without SDP, this party supported the candidacy of DF representative for the vice-president of the entity, Milan Dunovic, who still holds this office. We expect the DF to respond reciprocally and vote for the proposal of the ”Eight” for the new vice-president of the FBiH from among the Bosniak people, given that the ”Eight” are part of the new entity majority. Any participation in the blockades would mean a betrayal of the fundamental principle for which DF stands, which is the civil principle of government, that is, enabling the establishment of the Government by those entities that have a majority in the House of Representatives,”the ”Eight” said.

”The SDP, respecting that principle, supported the DF. We believe that the DF should also respect that principle, thus enabling the parliamentary majority to establish the Government, as the SDP enabled them in 2015. We reject the public invitation of the SDA for talks on the formation of the government and once again remind the leadership and membership of that party that the parliamentary majorities have been agreed upon and established, and that for the first time in our homeland there is a programmatic coalition on the scene, agreed and signed in the institutions of BiH,” the ”Eight”concluded in their statement.
