Electoral silence before the general elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina begins today at 7:00 a.m. and will last until the polling stations close on Sunday, October 4, at 7:00 p.m., said the president of the Central Election Commission /CIK/BiH Jovan Kalaba.

During the period of election silence, political entities are prohibited from participating in public political activities, as well as media coverage of any activity related to the political and election campaign.

Polling stations on Sunday, October 4, will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and voters will be able to exercise their right to vote with a valid identity card, driver’s license or BiH passport.

3,408,517 voters are registered in the central voter list for the 2026 general elections, while 48,078 voters are registered outside BiH.

Of that number, 45,457 voters will vote by mail, while 2,621 voters will vote in 20 diplomatic and consular missions of BiH in 13 countries.

In the general elections, 518 mandate holders are elected from among 7,028 certified candidates.

This year’s elections will be the first in BiH where biometric voter identification, ballot scanners and fast transmission of election results will be used.

At the polling stations, there will be more than 4,000 operators as technical support, as well as 500 field technicians to eliminate possible problems in the operation of devices for voter identification and scanning of ballots.

The call center for supporting the election administration will also be active from today.

The CEC has appointed more than 5,000 presidents of election committees and about 3,300 deputies. 2,432 election observers were accredited, of which 756 were international.
