According to the instructions of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, that Gulf state will take over the patronage, that is, the care of 3,000 Palestinian orphans and 1,500 wounded from the Gaza Strip, which has been under attack by Israeli forces since October 7.
The State of Qatar will be in charge of the transfer of the wounded and their escorts, and in order to prepare for their treatment in designated hospitals, the Qatari state news agency QNA reported.
These activities will be conducted in coordination with the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The initiative comes as a continuation of the support of the State of Qatar and the ongoing efforts of official Doha to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, especially amid the dire humanitarian conditions in the enclave.
Since the start of the strikes on Gaza on October 7, the State of Qatar has provided 36 planes with 1,203 tons of aid for the Palestinian people, including food, medical supplies, equipment for shelters, field hospitals and ambulances.
