The traditional event “You Are the Only One – Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)!” was held in Stuttgart to mark the end of the 2023/2024 school year in BiH supplementary schools.

The central event of the “You Are the Only One – BiH” celebration in Stuttgart was the announcement of the best literary and artworks by students for the 2023/2024 school year, submitted to the traditional competition organized by the Association of BiH Supplementary Schools on the theme “My, Your, Our BiH”.

According to the decision of the expert jury, chaired by Professor Ajdina Besic, the first place in the literary works category was shared by three works: “Am I a Brit or a Bosnian?” by Dino Pasic (15), a student at the Bosnian Supplementary School in London, United Kingdom (UK); “Freedom and Peace” by Deen Gromilic (13), also from the BiH Supplementary School in London, UK; and “My Bosnia” by Harun Nuhic, a second-grade student from Sindelfingen, Germany.

The second place was shared by the works “My Homeland” by Selver Muratovic and “My, Your, Our BiH” by Adem Nuhic, a fifth-grade student from Sindelfingen, Germany. Third place went to the works of Lejla Cajic, Hiba Nuhic (Sindelfingen), and Sumejja Muhic, a third-grade student from Wolfratshausen, Bavaria.

The competition for the best artwork received over 100 submissions from around the world. The jury awarded first place to Sara Abadzija (14), a student at the BiH School in Sonderborg, Denmark, whose teachers are Medina Abadzija and Edin Kazic, and a joint work by students of the BiH School in Frankfurt. Second place went to Vedad Kadic from Augsburg (BiH School Munich, Laim class) and Sara Mujic, a sixth-grade student from the BiH School Stuttgart-Nord. Third place was awarded to Amar Rizvanovic from Sindelfingen and Sara Ajanovic from Stuttgart.

The event also featured a panel discussion on the topic “Identity and Mother Tongue in the Diaspora”. The panelists included Professors Azra Hodzic-Kadic from Vienna, Samra Mujanic from Konstanz, Alma Hodzic from Frankfurt, and Ajdina Besic from Stuttgart. The discussion was moderated by Haris Halilovic, President of the Association of BiH Supplementary Schools.

“The program included performances by students from BiH schools in Stuttgart-Nord, Sindelfingen, Stuttgart-Wangen, Aalen, and Frankfurt. The event was enriched by the youngest members of the Cultural and Artistic Society “Mladi biseri” from Stuttgart, as well as musicians Miso Mandic, Muhamed Aganovic, Zoran Fejzagic, writer Rizvan Rizvic, and others,” the Association of BiH Supplementary Schools stated.
