An emergency meeting of EU foreign ministers held online to discuss the worsening situation in Lebanon ended with an appeal for calm and respect for international humanitarian law.
“Any further military intervention would dramatically worsen the situation and must be avoided,” said EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, speaking via video link.
“The European Union renews its call for an immediate ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel,” said Borrell.
“The voice of diplomacy should speak and be heard by everyone,” added Borrell.
