The famous Italian conductor maestro Riccardo Muti arrived in Sarajevo yesterday, and on Wednesday he will hold a concert in the National Theater.
The reason for his arrival is the 100th anniversary of the Sarajevo Philharmonic. With his arrival, he puts Sarajevo’s classical music scene on the list of world stages, and it is difficult to imagine a more beautiful celebration of 100th birthday than the Sarajevo Philharmonic will have on Wednesday, October 11th.
Back in January of this year, the Sarajevo Philharmonic informed the public that maestro Muti decided to present the Sarajevo Philharmonic and the Sarajevo audience with his performance for their 100th birthday.
This will be Maestro Muti’s third visit to Sarajevo. He was among the first to visit destroyed Sarajevo in 1997 with the Milan Scale and held a concert in Skenderija. Then in 2009, he conducted the concert “The Roads of Friendship: From Sarajevo to Sarajevo” in Zetra. Then, for his outstanding cultural contribution and friendship, the great maestro was presented with the 1st Key to the City of Sarajevo.
The Sarajevo Philharmonic emphasizes that the organization of the arrival of such a big name from the world of classical music was a big organizational challenge for the only professional orchestra in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), but they proudly point out that they are ready to give all the guests of the gala concert an unforgettable experience. The tickets were sold out in record time, immediately after going on sale.
Therefore, the Sarajevo Philharmonic invites all interested citizens and guests of the city to join the celebration and follow the live concert at the National Theater on Wednesday, October 11th, 2023, starting at 8 p.m. Access to the square and watching the broadcast is free, Klix.ba reports.
