The Federation of BiH could get a Register of Pedophiles?

The public debate on the draft law, according to which the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) should obtain a register of pedophiles by the end of the year, which was supported by delegates in the House of Peoples of the Federal Parliament last Thursday, will be held on July 29th, Anadolu Agency (AA) reports.

This information was confirmed by Jasmin Duvnjak, one of the proponents of the draft law. As he said, the phenomenon of sexual exploitation of children and minors is increasingly present in BiH.

“These days, we are witnessing unpleasant events when it comes to the sexual exploitation of children in Zepce, Zenica, and some other places. This is the first step by which we will strengthen the protection of children and minors from perpetrators of crimes against sexual freedom and morality. This will be a preventive mechanism that will surely influence those who have been legally convicted for the mentioned criminal acts not to commit the same criminal act again,“ mentioned Duvnjak.

Persons convicted of crimes against children or minors, rape, sexual intercourse with an infirm person, sexual intercourse by abuse of position, coercion into sexual intercourse, lewd acts, gratification of lust in front of a child or minor, incitement to prostitution, exploitation of a child or minor for the pornograpfy purposes, introducing a child to pornography, and incest would be entered in the register.

According to the draft law, data on the name and surname of the convicted person, place, municipality and country of birth, unique identity number, as well as data important for the physical identification of the convicted person and his photo, will be entered in the register.

Data from the register could be given to organizations, institutions, institutions and associations that have direct contact with children if there is a justified interest in doing so, as well as in procedures for the protection of children’s rights and interests.

“This establishment of the register has practical significance because, on the one hand, it will impose special measures for the perpetrators of these criminal acts, such as a ban on approaching places where children and minors gather and stay,” said Duvnjak, pointing out that the data from the register will be permanently available.

Convicted pedophiles would have to report to the competent Minitry of Internal Affairs after serving their prison sentence.

Proponents of the Draft Law, Jasmin Duvnjak, Aner Zuljevic, and Lana Prlic, held an online meeting on Friday where they discussed the need to intensify further activities and steps towards the final adoption of the Draft Law.
