Student’s Parliament of the University of Sarajevo (SPUS) organized the arrival of 120 students volunteers in Potočari this year.
These hardworking students, whose majority was fasting, cleaned the whole complex of the Memorial Centre “Potočari” after the funeral and burial of 136 victims of the Srebrenica genocide and helped in organization of the commemoration for victims.
The President of SPUS, Ahmed Nurković, and the member of Presidency of SPUS, Merim Serdarević, who is also the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, on University of Sarajevo (UNSA), told that this is their 7th visit to Potočari.
They come every year to bring the aid or to clean the Center.
“We want to show to all of the citizens of B&H, and especially to the young people, that on the 11th of July, Potočari are the place from which, in the spirit of peace and tolerance, should be sent a message of coexistence, forgiveness and reconciliation,” they said.
Serdarević condemned the hypocrisy of those who do not want to admit the genocide and who are fighting with all means to deny such a crime in Srebrenica, where more than 8,000 people was killed.
Volunteers want to send a clear message that they will never let the crimes committed all across the country, especially the crimes that have been characterized as genocide, to be forgotten.
“Despite all the unpleasant events that happened today, we are offering open hand to our neighbors in Serbia and Croatia, wishing to build good neighborly relations with them and a better future for all of us,” concluded Serdarević.
