The House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the Draft Law on the Register of Persons Convicted of Pedophilia and Sexual Offenses.
61 delegates voted for the adoption of this law, 10 abstained, and there were no votes against.
The register will include those convicted of rape, sexual intercourse with an infirm person, sexual intercourse by abuse of position, sexual intercourse with a child, lewd acts and satisfying lust in front of a child or minor.
Data from the register can, in addition to judicial and security institutions, also be given to organizations, institutions, institutions and associations that have direct contact with children in the performance of their duties.
The register will not be public and the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the police administration will have access to it, and a specific person will be checked upon request.
The reason why the information in the registry is secret is that a convicted pedophile would not file a lawsuit because his information was made public.
Keeping the register of pedophiles will be defined by the regulations of the Ministry of Justice of the FBiH.
This law in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was referred to the parliamentary procedure in 2019, while in the Republika Srpska it has been in force since 2018.
