The Israeli army carried out another attack on the Al-Shifa hospital in the Gaza Strip this afternoon, causing significant damage to the intensive care unit, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced.
The ministry’s spokesman, Ashraf Al-Qudra, said a second strike by the Israeli army caused significant damage to the intensive care unit building.
The cardiology unit of the hospital was heavily damaged in the morning in an attack by the Israeli army.
Al-Qudra said that “extensive damage was caused to the intensive care building in the Al-Shifa medical complex, west of Gaza City, as a result of a renewed attack by the Israeli army.”
He also stated that Israeli forces recently targeted people as they tried to leave Al-Shifa.
According to Palestinian medical sources, the Israeli army has surrounded the hospital since yesterday and is shooting at anyone who moves. According to reports, the medical complex is mostly out of order and running out of medical equipment and supplies.
Al-Qudra stressed that “urgent intervention is necessary for the situation in Al-Shifa Medical Complex, otherwise they will lose more wounded patients.”
Earlier, the Director General of Hospitals in the Gaza Strip, Muhammad Zaqout, warned that the lives of about 650 patients, including 36 children, were at risk due to the catastrophic situation in Al-Shifa Hospital.
Al-Shifa Hospital and its surroundings, as well as other hospitals in the Gaza Strip, have been constantly targeted by the Israeli army in recent days.
Israel has launched air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip since a cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7.
Since the start of the conflict, at least 11,100 Palestinians have been killed, including 8,000 children and women. According to official data, the death toll in Israel is almost 1,200.
