The Israeli army has withdrawn from the Khiam region in southern Lebanon, Anadolu reports.

The Israeli army said that the 7th Brigade “completed its mission” in Khiam on December 11, and in accordance with the ceasefire agreement, the Lebanese army and troops of the United Nations Interim Peacekeeping Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) were deployed to the region under the coordination of the United States (US).

They announced that the Israeli army continues its presence in the regions it occupied in southern Lebanon, claiming that it is “operating in accordance with the ceasefire agreement.”

According to the National News Agency (NNA), Lebanese army units have been deployed to five points around the town of Khiam in the south, where Israel has begun to withdraw.

Thus, the Lebanese army has begun to deploy to the area from which the Israeli army withdrew for the first time since the ceasefire was declared on November 27.

The Lebanese army also called on the public to stay away from the area and to follow the army’s instructions.
